On-line registrations will be accepted until 5pm on Thursday, March 2, 2013.
Guests are also welcome to "walk-in" and register at the door the day of the event. (Some workshops may already be full)

Session 1: 8:45 - 9:20 am (Select One) 

1.   Ever wonder how to achieve beachy waves, create volume with your flat iron, or go from office hair to girls night out hair in just minutes? Learn insider tips on how to create these looks and more in this interactive, informative and FUN class.  Mary from Randolph's Salon will show you "what's new and what's hot ...and what's not!

 

2.   Are you curious about Fairy Gardens? Maybe you have a space all picked out for your fairy garden but are unsure which pieces would look the best. How big or small can the Fairy Gardens be? Come let your imagination go while we show you ideas for your Fairy Garden. People of all ages love these little people and they make great gifts. Mary Czuchra from Deneweths is very excited to show you these accessories for your home. Indoors and out Fairy Gardens can fit your space.

 

3.   Wake up tired? Yawning in the afternoon? Look and feel older than you really are? Come find out how inactivity and the foods you eat can cause a loss or gain of sustained healthy energy. Dr. Jody Tenjeras, D.C., C.C.N. will offer tips and personalized testing at this energizing workshop.

 

4.   Tired of my hair, can't find a thing to wear, on a budget, and my style - we just won't go there.  The stylists and wardrobe specialist from the LaFontaine fashion world will provide demonstrations on how to improve your looks by styling your hair with professional techniques and tricks by Vanessa.  Also tips on keeping a fresh look on your hands and toes by Darlene. Liz and Linda will demonstrate the basic foundations needed in your closet to keep you looking slim and fit. Update your look by adding accessories and modernize on a budget with key pieces for multiple looks.

 

5.   Have you ever wondered if you could hit the volley ball over the net, or already know you love to play but just do not have the time. Do you like to meet new people then why not try Volleyball today. Curt Behnke from Huron Valley Recreation and Community Education will be showing the different ways to serve and play Volleyball.

 

6.   DMC Organize Yourself for a Healthy Lifestyle.  Michaeline Raczka, RD Manager of Community Health DMC Huron Valley - Sinai Hospital.  Learn tips and techniques to help you implement your health goals. Discussion will include mapping out your success, overcoming roadblocks and the tools that can assist you achieve your destination.

 

7.   You have a new Kindle Fire, iPad or Nook and you want to load eBooks from your local library using their new eBooks system, but you do not know how! Come a learn how easy it can be. Obtain access from your library while you are at the Women's Enrichment Day. Larry and Denise will be showing you how easy it is to use your electronic gadget.

8.   Things every woman AUTO know!  What do you know about the vehicle you wrap around yourself and your family?  Those four wheels are so important to how well your day goes. Breaking down is not an option, neither are expensive car repairs. Christina Cain, the owner of Bob's Complete  Auto Service would love to teach you what every woman should know about auto repair and maintenance.  Sign up for this workshop-you will be glad you did!

 

9.   Have you ever wanted to change the shape of your face, make it thinner, longer, higher cheek bones? This is the class for you. You will get to try our botanicals skin care for younger or sensitive skin. Wendy and Kim will guide you  while you try facial contouring and shading. They are very fun and easy to do. When you schedule your follow up appointment we can guide you in these same products or others and save you money on your favorites.

 

10.  Have always wanted to Learn to knit? Now is your chance!  Not sure anyone can teach you? Well Vickie Grogan can. Bring a set of short size 8 or 9 needles, a skein of worsted weight yard and let's get started! I will show you how to cast on, knit, yarn over and bind off.  Extended classes available.

 

11.   Duane Karr, Registered Massage Therapist (Serving Huron Valley over 34 years) Come learn, give  and receive a mini-chair massage (head/neck/shoulders/arms/hands/upperback). The feel-good gift.  'Tis the Season to get a break!

 

12.  Archery is safe, fun and easy to learn. This is a lifetime sport, suitable for the entire family and appropriate for those that have never held a bow or those with previous experience.  Come learn about this sport and see how much you enjoy it! Taught by Curt Behnke and Huron Valley Recreation & Community Education.


13.  Do you have photos scattered between your camera, phone, and computer? Are you having a hard time remembering a photo or if you backed it up for safe keeping? Anna Broome of Creative Memories will show you how to make some quick digital projects with your photos. Join this workshop for a demonstration and learn some quick techniques for an organized system.

 
Session 3: 11:20 am - 12:00 pm (Select One)  

14.  Do you want to lift your drooping eye lids, lighten the dark circles, improve the skin's elasticity? You will love this opportunity to go back in time, using products that are synergized to work together and Lift Away the years! Come try our newest skin care system with amazing results. 15.  You have always wanted to try to paint with water colors. Now is your chance! Artist Joyce Cantalini will guide you as you surprise yourself with a finished mini water color painting to take home. Joyce offers classes in her home studio where you can try different brushes, brush strokes and techniques.

 

16.  We can be YOUR Handyman. Jeff Wright Renovations will show you how to make small drywall repairs,  hang your favorite pictures and re caulk your bathroom tiles. You will be amazed at how easy it is. Stop by our booth and see some of the projects we have done for other clients.

 

17.  Foot Feng Shui (creating healthy, harmonious and beautiful feet) presented by Dr. Aimee Popofski and Dr. Jennifer Petronella. The doctors of Lakes Foot and Ankle Associates will teach you how common foot ailments may be causing you pain and how we can help. You will learn how State of the Art technology and our sanitary and indulgent pedicure spa can give you gorgeous feet.  When feet are healthy and beautiful, harmony is restored and positive energy will flow!

 

18.  Celebrate Your Crowning Glory! Learn some tricks to be able to wear your hair in a more flattering way. Color, high lights, low lights, texture, waves, style and even change your bangs. Have you given any thought to your brows and how they flatter your eyes and face? Learn quick tips for brows and bangs. Carole Cota at Hair Chase will show you some of the best On Trend Styles along with some tried and true Classics.


19.  Dementia/Alzheimer’s:  Living with the Disease -  Please join us for this informative talk about the signs and stages of Dementia and Alzheimer’s.  We will also discuss the challenges for the families and the creative approaches in the care and communication with your loved ones.  Bring your questions or concerns to discuss with our top caregivers from Age with Grace Senior Care.


20.  Are you tired of taking over-the-counter medications? Are you worried about giving medications to your children?  Are you  looking for safe, natural alternative? 21.  Learn how to make a felt basket for collecting Easter Eggs! The kids will love these adorable, easy to make baskets! Learn how to sew buttons on faster, see how to sew buttons with a machine, how to make a casing, feed ribbons through a casing and add embellishments. If time allows, we will touch on making pillow case dresses! One class attendee will win the basket made in class!  Marlene Moening from Angelic Stitches is a great teacher and you will love to see her ideas.

22.  It has been proven that women live longer and need money longer, Chuck Patrello of Primerica Financial can discuss ways to increase your financial health.  As an approved vendor for the Huron Valley Schools 403B Retirement Plan, Chuck will discuss various ways of saving money and gaining financial independence.

 

23.  "Taming the Mind and Finding Peace in Relationships" is a unique workshop offered by Victoria Yelletz (Vickie) MA. LLP. and Lynn Lombardo MA. LLP.  These talented women will help you experience and learn how to quiet your mental chatter, move through your emotions to action and shift your mindset to one of gratitude and possibility.  You will also find new patterns of relating more effectively. The end result, experience more joy in your life. Bring your open mind and willingness to be challenged for this life changing opportunity.

This open and interactive class will touch on HOW TO's...how to create the perfect smoky eye all the celebrities are wearing, how to create luscious red lips, how to choose the right nail enhancement for your lifestyle, and how to pull it all together. Not a class to be missed! Randolph's Salon and Mary are looking forward to meeting you.

 

26.  What if I have to give my pet CPR? How will I care for my pet? Now is your chance to ask the Veterinarian questions about your specific pet concerns. Your pet is such an important part of your family, why not get some ideas and thoughts from a wonderful warm friendly local vet. Julie and Peter at Veterinary Care Specialist will be ready to answer your questions.

 

27.  Create a Pen & Ink Mini Work of Art , Taught by award winning artist Wendy Willihnganz.  Students will learn the basics of line and form using pen & ink to create spring inspired “paintings” on bookmarks. Color will be added to bring your piece to life. All supplies will be provided by Wendy for a $5 materials fee. Students will go home with a completed project as a remembrance for this very special day.

What is the Huron Valley Education Foundation?

 

The Huron Valley Educational Foundation is a nonprofit community-based partnership of public education and private philanthropy. The mission of the foundation is to generate and distribute financial resources to facilitate educational enrichment and innovation for the students and teachers of Huron Valley Schools. Foundation funds, which are supported solely by charitable, tax deductible contributions, support activities that allow students and teachers to engage in creative and innovative educational programs funded by Huron Valley.

’08-’09 Grant
COLLEGE LIFE IS POSSIBLE (Teresa Morelli-Sobczak/Muir Middle)
Students will be going on a guided tour of Eastern Michigan University. They will experience a day in the life of a college student and will learn how their current choices today effect the decisions they have to make in their future. They will also see the special education support available at the collegiate level. In Honor of Women In Business, Highland Business Association Grant

’07-’08 Grant
VETERINARY SCIENCE EXPLORATION (Amanda Beckett/Lakeland High School)
This grant supports work that has begun in Huron Valley high schools promoting Science Career Integration into the Biology Curriculum. Veterinarian Dr. Sandy Smith has donated her time to guest speak/teach 3 classes of biology at LHS for a day. She would be exploring the world of microscope specimens and various common animal parasites with students. The HVEF grant would secure slides which would be directly used for the program. In Honor of Women In Business, Highland Business Association Grant
