Just added to the line up at our Showcase Lunch.  The Small Business Association of Michigan will be joining us and giving a short presentation on Personal Property Tax exemption Proposal 1.

As business owners, employees and tax paying citizens in the state of Michigan, we must make it our priority to understanding pending laws that will affect the future of our businesses and services! Your chamber has put together this luncheon to bring business owners and tax paying citizens together to understand the impact of Proposal 1 when you vote on August 5th.

Proposal 1 is designed to eliminate the personal property tax small businesses pay without placing a tax increase on Michigan residents. Your financial support is needed so that Michigan small businesses will benefit from the elimination of this tax!

There are many issues that arise in Lansing that cause drastic partisan rifts. Proposal 1, however, does not play politics. Both Republicans and Democrats agree that this is one of the most antiquated taxes that Michigan employs. Both parties have worked together to both eliminate this tax, and came up with a solution to ensure that local communities will not see revenue cuts.

In addition to being "Event Level" sponsors of Highland's Red, White and Blues Festival, the HWLBA supported and participated in the "Flip Flop 400" fireworks fund raiser.
