Dear Highland Stakeholders,

Last month the Highland edition of the Spinal Column was launched.  The paper was a community effort tied together by a local editor, local contributing writers and local business advertisers.  It met the goal of providing a voice to the positive news of our community and to be a conduit of information about public concerns.   The first edition was evidence of a community coming together to give voice to businesses, community leaders and the people.  The support was overwhelming and demonstrated the value of a local paper keeping the public informed.

Earlier this year, Huron Valley Schools opened a door of opportunity to Highland residents and businesses by seeking a request for proposal for the property of the former Highland Middle School.  Currently, there are two proposals on the table that would have a significant impact on the community.

We are currently working on a Special Edition of the Highland Spinal Column called “MainStreet Highland News”, that will focus solely on these two proposals.  The paper will address the question, “Which is better for Highland?”  Each proposal will be presented objectively; the focus is pure information.  In addition, I will be holding an open meeting at M59 West on Monday, April 4th at 7:00 pm to discuss the proposals and gauge public opinion.

Both proposals will have a significant impact on the business community in the Highland Mainstreet area and the Highland DDA area.  As stakeholders in the vibrancy of the Highland, we are asking for your help.  Publishing a special edition requires a financial commitment.  We have worked out a deal with the Spinal Column to produce this special edition at a discounted rate.  We are asking for sponsors for this special edition.  Instead of traditional advertising, we want to keep the information to a maximum so we are asking for a sponsorship of at least $35.  Your sponsorship includes your name on the sponsorship page, a separate business roundtable with me and a sponsorship page at the April 4th meeting.  By participating, you are sending a clear message to the people of Highland that you are a stakeholder in the community.

Sponsorship must be confirmed by March 20 in order to be listed on the sponsorship page.  Please contact me regarding sponsorship payment.  Please call Rick at 248-787-4571 for any questions and confirmation.

Payments should be made to "Friends of Downtown Highland" a 501c3 charitable organization.  Sponsorship is tax deductible. Mail payments to the office of Christina Hamill, CPA,  211 N. St. John St., Highland, MI 48357

A Truly Sincere Thank you,
